Week 30: 071811– Kanikapila At Amy and Brudda Bu’s Place . . .
BOT:
Aloha Ahi Ahi UFOhana, in case you didn’t get the email Amy and Brudda Bu are hosting this week’s Kanikapila. Mahalo Nui Loa to them both for their Kokua.
The following are Panoramas of where we’ve been so far . . .
Below: First beach we hit . . . Ko’olina Lagoon Number 4. There are 5 man made beaches/lagoons altogether, located between Barbers Point and Waianae. The new Disney Resort is located just down the road from here.
Below: View of the Waianae range lit in a morning sunrise as viewed from Pearl City, I took a ‘close up’ of the moon in it’s original position and pasted it over the ‘little white dot’. i.e. where it was originally. Makes for better effect . . . gotta love Photoshop.
Below: Makapu’u on a small day, Lucas and Warren is the 14th speck from the right floundering in the wash . . .
Below: Chinatown, to the right, behind the tree is the back of Indigo Restaurant . . . who offers a great Buffet Lunch!
Below: View from the Pali Lookout . . . that’s Warren walking towards us on the left and Warren (again, shirtless) in the far right bottom corner. One of the great ‘side effects’ of stitching Panoramas, you can actually appear in more than one frame.
Below: The local Chinese Branch of HPD.
Below: Panos from the Haleiwa Art Festival . . .
Below: Pupukea Park’s Shark’s Cove . . . excellent snorkeling spot.
Below: Another view of Shark’s Cover from our Car . . .
Below: Haleiwa Beach Park looking toward Mokuleia and Kaena Point.
Below: View from Mokuleia Point. To the left of mountain range is where were in the above photo and to the right of the mountain range is Kaena Point. Where you can actually walk from the North (Mokuleia) to the West side (Waianea) of Oahu. Pua and Lucas are standing next to our car (white Mercedes, middle).
Below: Makai (ocean) view from our car . . .
Below . . .
Below: View of Mauna Leahi from the 41st Annual Ukulele Festival . . .
Below: Early morning scene at the Ukulele Festival, people with Red and Blue shirt center are part of an Ukulele Ohana from Taiwain . . . there were other groups from Korea, Thailand, Australia, Japan, San Diego, San Franciso (Ka’ala’s Group) hmmmmm . . . funny no group from Marin . . . YET!
Below: Back of the Kapiolani Bandstand . . .
Below: view from Ewa side of the Festival . . . and there are more coming!
Below: Food and Product booths . . .
Below: More booths located on the Diamond Head side of the Band Stand . . .
Ok, too tired to set up the collages and single photos . . .should have those and some of the many videos we took sometime next week.
Enjoy the Kanikapila the Friday All! Mahalo again to Amy and Bu!
Uke-Ku
Moon adrift in blue,
Sunrise in the Ko’olau,
Shadows run from day.
