Week 23: 060111 – Ukali ka Alaka’i Na Mele
BOT:
Aloha Ahi Ahi UFOhana! Mahalo to all for another great Kanikapila last week. It’s been a short busy week thus far so I’m blasting this Blog out . . .
1. This week’s Music Theme “Follow the Leader of the Song”, i.e. ‘Follow the Leader”. So here’s how it works, there will be No Solos this week. Rules of “Follow the Song Leader” is as follows:
- I will start off the Kanikapila
- When I’m ready to Engage the FTL session I will choose an Acting SqL to lead the next Flight (song).
- The ASqL will lead the next song of their choice, either from the Flight Manual or provided a song for everyone (i.e. print out a song for everyone to sing).
- When that Flight is done. The ASqL will pick the next ASqL and repeat the process until everyone has had their chance.
- ASqL will be allowed to select Co-Pilots to assist in song leading.
- No Repeat ASqLs allowed/selected until everyone has had their chance to be an ASqL.
- You can give up your assignment as ASqL if you’re not feeling up to it. But you are required to select your successor.
Ok I think that’s it? Not to hard yah?
2. Don’t forget Keoki and James will be out our way this Friday/Saturday! Mahalo everyone for signing up for their classes! It’s going to be great. Btw, you may want to bring a chair along with you as we may be a little short of seating. Yes, that many have signed up!!!!!
3. Just as an early warning/FYI, the UFOhana have been requested to perform once again, at the Marin County Fair. We are schedule for July 3rd at 2PM, performing for 45 minutes (I confirmed this, again) at the Ben and Jerry Stage.
4. Flight Manual Volume 2 is almost done! I’m just finishing up some of the songs from Keoki’s Music Camp we’ll be done! Mahalo to all that donated their Mele to this new Flight Manual.
Below are Donna’s handi-work from last week. We’re so lucky to have someone document all this good times! Mahalo Donna.

Sandy or ____?,
Since last fall, Gary Sugiyama, Clay Wilson, Linda Green, Karen & I have been playing for the Hula Mai dance group in Sonoma, along with 3 other musicians & singers. Linda is our bass player, but she is not going to be available for a performance at the Sonoma plaza on Sunday afternoon, June 26. We would like to find a bass player who could attend at least one practice before the performance. The 2 practices will be from 1:30 to 4 pm on Thursday June 9 and June 16. Are you interested and would you be able to make at least one practice session?
