Week 22 – 060509: Geekdom is Born!
BOT:
Aloooooha UFOhana! It’s that time of the week once again!
Just as the after glow of another fantastic Uke Night fades into the previous week. The rise of another one appears on the horizon. Along with that rising glow I would like to proclaim this week as the ‘Birth of Geekdom’. I found that on this day the following Geek Alignments occurred:
1. In 1661 Isaac Newton admitted as a student to Trinity College, Cambridge, remember the Apple?
2. In 1833 Ada Lovelace (future 1st Computer programmer) meets Charles Babbage (creator of the Difference Engine – The First Mechanical Computer?).
3. In 1977 1st personal Computer, the Apple II, goes on sale.
Weird huh? Talk about 6 Degrees?
So in honor of our Ancestral Geeks I would like to proclaim this week’s food theme as ‘Foods Only A Geek Might Love’. Huh? I dunno, I’ll leave to you to ponder. Talk amongst yourselves . . .
Since my camera was on the blink last week, I’d like to offer up the following Video from Brudda Carey.
Uke Night in 3 minutes or less . . . Make it so Number 1!
Woa, talk about a fast double strum!
Ok so there you have it. Pretty cool huh?

Quinoa? Hold On, Accessing . . .
Quinoa (pronounced /ˈkiːnoʊ.ə/ or /kwɨˈnoʊ.ə/, Spanish quinua, from Quechua kinwa), a species of goosefoot (Chenopodium), is a grain-like crop grown primarily for its edible seeds. It is a pseudocereal rather than a true cereal, or grain, as it is not a grass. As a chenopod, quinoa is closely related to species such as beets, spinach and tumbleweeds. Its leaves are also eaten as a leaf vegetable, much like amaranth, but the commercial availability of quinoa greens is currently limited.
Ah Yes, Quinoa. Geek level assessed 9.5
Incoming Ration approved.
SqL Out.

Just to be clear, I'm NOT bringing Top Ramen. Too salty for geeks.

Geeks eat sushi, so that's my contribution and some delicious red wine.

Yes they do! Much like the Klingon Gagh Dish (Blood Worms) which are also eaten raw (actually live).
As a Klingon Chef might say "Today is a good day to . . . eat!"
Kapla!

The warp and weft of our lives can now be imprinted on the off-spring of Babbage's loom.
Thoughts of food will come.
