Week 3 – 2009
BOT:
Aloha Ahi Ahi UFOhana!
Well here we are at Week 3 of our New Year and we’ve all witness the beginning of a new era in our Government. Some of us ‘up close-( r )’ and more personal than a TV set. Mahalo Amy and Bu for sharing their accounts of that historic event!
It was an amazing event to behold, even from this side of the Country. I had set up a PC in our office to project the Inauguration on a big screen but the Internet feed from all the sites kept stumbling and stuttering, then finally freezing. Apparently, the entire world was interested in this one and they were hammering the sites. Fortunately someone offered up a ‘boom box’ that actually picked up an FM station. So there we were, a huge frozen image of Obama on the screen with a radio speaking his words. Every one was silent during his speech. I kept looking around the room in our office and couldn’t help but recall black and white images of a family huddled around a radio during the depression era. Once again, the simplest technologies prevailed in getting the message to the people. Not more than 30 seconds after his speech the frozen project image was replaced by an actual live feed! I guess China must have all gone back to work? Everyone in our office returned to work as well. The only thing that lingered was the sense of a New Hope . . .
And so now the real work begins.
But, this Friday we Kanikapila! And this week the food theme is “Hopeful Foods” and I’ll leave it at that.
I HOPE that you’re all feeling better this time around, I know that Donley, Sharon, Karen, Susan and many others have been fighting this terrible cold. I’ve manage to fight off a sore throat with a combo of Pua’s miracle oils and constant gargling with Listerine. Yucky, but it worked. Malama Pono everyone.
Btw, is anyone out there still interested in the Hawaiian Language lessons? If so please do update your posts to that section in the Blog. Mahalo.

Looks like we're gonna skip this week, too. Almost over this bought of respiratory illness...
