The Merrie Monarch
To honor the last king of Hawaii, King David Kalakaua, who enjoyed high spirits, Hawaiian culture and many Western cultural things (especially ones that were a bit bawdy), we will celebrate the Merrie Monarch this Friday.
Please bring food, drink and song that you think King Kalakaua would enjoy.
The King was responsible for the continuation of many Hawaiian things in his day, including the ukulele and hula. He liked a good drink and a fun time with friends. They didn't call him 'Merrie' for nothing.
This Friday will be at Bu and Amy's house. Please bring a music stand if you have one, we only have three.
Directions:
353 Mt. Shasta Dr., San Rafael.
If you are heading north on 101, take the Lucas Valley exit, come to the stop light, and turn left (west). If you are heading south on 101, take the Lucas Valley exit, come to the stop light, and turn left (west). (Lucas Valley is about 3 miles north of San Rafael).
Go about 2 1/2 miles on Lucas Valley Road. At around 2 miles, you will pass Mt. Lassen Dr., with a small store on your right. Go another 1/2 mile or so until you come to Mt. Shasta Dr. Turn right. In about 200 yards or so, you will come to a stop sign. This is Idylberry. Keep going straight, about 20 yards, and turn LEFT on Mt. Shasta Dr. Mt. Shasta loops back into itself, so that's why you have the corner of Mt. Shasta Dr. and Mt. Shasta Dr. We are the second house on the right, tan Eichler with an A frame over a carport and two flat roofs on either side.
Please list your incoming rations here and we look forward to seeing you.
There will be many new songs to enjoy.
Aloha, Bu and Amy

Sounds like dessert is needed. Either Cheese cake or Eclairs. I bet the king would have liked both.

Aloha Kini,
I was just wondering about him today. I think Barbara would know best? Anyway, I hope Al and all of you are doing well over Ke Kai. I'm sorry, well maybe just a little, that I won't be joining you folks this Friday. But I thought I'd offer up this virtual tasty tidbit from Chai's Steak House at the Aloha Tower:

It's big file so don't try to download it unless you've got broad band.
